Hi, I’m Julia – the grad! In April 2017, I graduated from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business with my Bachelor of Business Administration. Prior to that, I lived in Oslo, Norway (1995-2000 and 2011-2013), Nairobi, Kenya (2000-2003), and Westchester, New York (2003-2011). I am a dual citizen of Norway and Canada (mom is Norwegian and dad is Canadian) and am in the United States on an F-1 Student Visa. This means my future in the US is uncertain and my status could change at any time. I am currently waiting for my OPT application with USCIS to be approved so that I can begin working and extend my stay in the US until June 2018.
When I began my studies at the University of Michigan, I traveled from Norway to the United States with one suitcase. Moving out of Ann Arbor, I realized just how much stuff I had accumulated over the years. In an effort to live a simpler life and be able to travel/move on short notice, I set myself the goal of traveling from Michigan to California with one bag. One bag turned into two suitcases and two boxes so downsizing is still in progress… but regardless, this marks the start of living with less material items and more experiences.
Since graduating in April, I have moved from Ann Arbor, Michigan to Los Angeles, California. I am currently working my way through my LA Bucket List, wrapping up my training for the San Francisco Marathon (July 23), and planning a road trip around San Francisco (including Napa Valley, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Monterey, and Big Sur). Adventures beyond those will depend on the status of my visa application, but I will be sure to keep you updated!
